What’s Going On?
When I Grow Up, I Want to be a Video Game Composer… Hi! I hope you’re doing well. For my part, the last two months have been as musically thrilling as any period over the last year, and for that, I am very grateful. I got to play the first ten levels of Dungeon Delivered! during the playtesting phase and finally got to hear my soundtrack in action! The game is SO good and addictive! I started studying orchestration (the symphonic orchestra), listened to a whole lot of film scores (I particularly like the composer James Horner), got familiar with VSTs like Iconica Sketch and Kontakt 7 Orchestral, and finally composed my first epic orchestral piece, Champion’s Charge.
New Releases
In March and April, I was hard at work completing two new collections of compositions. The first one is something that I started last year when I was exploring electronic music and finally got around to finishing recently. The Outer World Planets Cycle series is my take on exploration music in a sci-fi video game that takes place on different planets’ surfaces. And the second collection that I worked on was the first half of soundtrack for my friend’s video game in development, Project Z. The first volume features towns and wilderness areas. This fantasy adventure video game will incorporate music in quite an interesting way since the main character is a bard. Stay tuned for Volume 2!
Exclusive Content for Subscribers
Dear member, I’m going give you access to the two ringtones I have used on my phone for the last 15 years or so. I wrote Airship and Victory! almost twenty years ago as part of a collection of fantasy video game music, and they have really stood out as ringtones. Try them out, see if you like them!
Guitar News
On the guitar side of things, I’ve been hard at work on preparing my classical guitar recital, which will happen in person on June 8th and virtually on June 9th. This time, I’m presenting video game music! Friends and family will get to hear music from Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy, Diablo and other great games. I’ll also be performing my very own Skyport as part of a trio! Lastly, I’m getting excited for the Camp musical du Saguenay-Lac-St-Jean, which will be happening early in August.
What next?
I’ve been delaying the release of the album A Snessian Adventure, mostly because there are tons of other projects to work on! It’ll come out during the summer, when I have more time. :) Apart from that, I’ve been collaborating with an extremely talented composer, game developer and YouTuber, HydroGene. Go listen to his amazing video game arrangements and compositions! Soon, we’ll be releasing a set of four original compositions that we wrote together. After that, it’s onwards with orchestral music, and then possibly more chiptune music! Game Over... Until the Next Score!
